This past semester I’ve been working on a grant proposal for an organization dealing with nutrition and cooking activities, and it really pushed me to examine my own habits. I go through phases where I eat more fresh foods, but my research for my proposal pushed me to look into joining a CSA – community-supported agriculture – group within the Pittsburgh area. After comparing boxes from several different area farms, I decided to go with Penn’s Corner. Their boxes are reasonably priced and the examples of what is included seem to contain a decent variety of both fruit and vegetables.
With my graduation from Pitt this May, I’m going to have a lot more free time to take better control of my health and cooking, and supporting local farms seemed like a great way to start.
I signed up for their 8 Week Spring Share as well as their bi-weekly Summer Harvest this year. My goal for this blog is to share what I receive and what I make with it!
